Plant Manager

The Plant Manager reports to the President/CEO and is responsible for all manufacturing and facility/equipment maintenance in the Rochester, NH facility.

Duties: 

  1. The Plant Manager is responsible for the strategy, resource planning, resource assignment, manufacturing and facility maintenance necessary to meet the delivery demands of Spaulding’s customers.
  2. Ensures a high level of performance is maintained based on company objectives, customer service, efficiency, scrap, labor costs, machine downtime, housekeeping, procedures/systems, etc.
  3. Leads daily and weekly site meetings and manages all KPI’s through direct reports. 
  4. Participate in and support a cross-functional, fully integrated planning process that incorporates ‘make versus buy’ decisions, capacity planning, scheduling and associated cost elements
  5. Performs analysis of customer demand and sales forecasts to develop and execute build to order and build to forecast plans
  6. Direct the efforts of all manufacturing and maintenance employees to meet the daily goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity.
  7. Drive improvements in productivity and cost savings
  8. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to continuously improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product utilizing Lean techniques and methodologies.
  9. Coordinate with cross-functional business teams to develop the best economic strategy for production planning to support customer demand.
  10. Participates in MRB and CAR meetings to resolve quality issues working with both internal and external resources.
  11. Manage the efforts to maintain zero lost time accidents in the facility.
  12. Grow and develop all employees in the various departments through regular reviews, setting of goals and appropriate training.
  13. Drive and support efforts to maintain good housekeeping practices in both the assigned area and throughout the facility.
  14. Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
  15. Other duties as assigned by management.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Experience directly managing and developing employees in a diverse manufacturing environment, minimum of 5 years preferred.
  • Experience in working with ERP system such as Oracle, SAP or Syteline (preferred)
  • Extensive experience working and leading in a Lean manufacturing environment. Experience utilizing Value Stream Mapping, Daily Management and Standard Work methodologies preferred.
  • Experience in a culture using established business management systems (e.g.- ACE, DBS, etc)
  • Excellent leadership, communications and instruction skills
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing equipment and processes (lathes, vertical and horizontal milling, CNCs, etc)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and mathematical skills are required.
  • Must be able to consistently lift 25 lbs. from the floor or table position to chest high using proper lifting technique.
  • Strong math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide.
  • Must be able to read, evaluate and respond to product specifications, blueprints and drawings, and perform normal math calculations easily.
  • Must be familiar and comfortable with industrial machinery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Safety first mentality when it comes to proactively addressing issues as they are identified.
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo, standing alone if needed.
